Reverse New Years Resolutions

Oh the time of year for resolutions and setting intentions! It’s a time for fresh starts and wiping the slate clean of bad habits and introducing new, healthier ones. But how many of us start off the year strong then by March slowly slip back into the same old routines and ruts? What would happen if we reverse-engineered our goals and just did more of what worked last year in the new year? What if we did more of the things that felt good to us? This requires some digging but well worth the task.

Set some time aside, light a candle and get cozy. Grab a journal and list out all the things that you love doing, habits that you are proud of and anything and everything that elicits feelings of joy. If there is anything that feels heavy or dreadful, ditch it!

The theory behind this is if we do more of what works it will naturally crowd out the stuff that doesn’t. Adding more positivity in your life naturally weeds out all that doesn’t serve.

As we enter not only a new year but a new decade, let’s make it a goal to take inventory of what is working in your life and make those part of your to-do lists!

We informally asked our staff what they want to do more of in 2020 and here are some themes that showed up. Do they sound familiar ?

“Being kind to yourself and accepting of who you are in this moment without trying to change.”

“Amping up the good old self-care routine.”

“Be the light in a dark situation by offering love and compassion.”

“Spend more time in nature. Nature is such an underrated healer. Go get some sunshine!”

“Create more of a cozy living space by adding some accents like a new blanket, a fancy new piece of cookware, new plants,  or a new favorite mug.”

“Cultivate some hidden talents. Maybe you are a talented painter or singer.”

“Keep feeding your mind with positivity. Take a break from the news and watch or listen to things that feed your spirit.”

“Keep laughing. Laughter really is the best medicine. Ask our staff how much we laugh at Wake.”

These are just a few things that can really transform your life. What you focus on grows so what will you choose to focus on in 2020? What are some good habits you want to keep going in this year? We would love to hear from you. Please leave us a comment!

We want to wish you a very Happy new year from the staff at Wake Foot Sanctuary.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
