Benefits of a Foot Soak: More Than Just a Luxury

Don’t neglect those feet of yours! So, are foot soaks more than just a luxury? This is something that men and women may differ in their opinions on. Lots of women find it necessary to have their feet presentable at all times, while men may just see it as a cosmetic treatment that costs money. Getting a foot soak done is much more than just a cosmetic treatment. The average American takes 8,000 to 10,000 steps a day, which over the course of life would start to take a toll on the health of your feet. All that wear and tear on your feet can begin to damage your feet if they are not maintained properly.

Getting a foot soak done has lots of benefits to it and is a great way to provide the basic care that your feet need. They are more than just a luxury and are for more than just women, contrary to belief. They are beneficial to anyone who needs to take care of their feet, such as men and even children! Foot soaks increase nail health by keeping the area around your toenails clean and freshly manicured. Here are just a few of the ways that foot soaks are great for your health:

Foot Soaks Help Prevent Infections

Feet are a high-risk area for infection as they are being used almost all day. There are a few ways infections can happen. If you are not moisturizing the area on a regular basis, your skin is more prone to cracks and tears in the skin, making it more susceptible to infection. Nails have a tendency to grow inward and form ingrown toenails which can be painful, may turn red and irritated, and possibly swell around the nail. Ingrown toenails are very common, but getting a foot soak done can help prevent ingrown toenails.

Receiving foot soaks every so often from a licensed professional can help treat your ingrown toenail, as well as prevent another jagged one from appearing. The care you will receive during your feet being soaked in luxurious essential oils, nourishing clays, and revitalizing salts can help prevent infections as well as help guide the toenails to grow in the correct direction.

Exfoliate and Moisturize Your Skin

Getting a foot soak can do wonders for your skin. Like drinking water to stay hydrated, your feet require the same care to be moisturized to stay in good health. Lots of people are good about lotioning, but the feet are a spot that often get neglected which can lead to foot ailments. Foot ailments are just another way of saying feet problems, such as athlete’s foot, blisters, corns, plantar fasciitis, gout, and many more.

Foot soaks help prevent the excessive buildup of dead skin on your feet by exfoliating and lotioning the tough area. Heel fissures, cracks, and callouses are all a result of dry skin on the feet. Fixing feet recommends moisturizing twice a day and increasing your water intake to moisturize within. You may need to consider a foot soak to exfoliate and moisturize your feet. The good news is that foot soaks are relaxing and beneficial and help remove those dead skin cells.

Smoother Skin

One of the most evident benefits of getting a foot soak done is the rejuvenation of your skin. When it comes to our feet, they are being worked out constantly. Lots of people are walking around all day, or have their feet locked inside their shoes. As a result, they are building calluses and rough skin. Having a foot soak done every so often will help keep your feet soft and smooth.

Feet in terms of how clean they are is kind of yucky to think about. Our feet retain tons of sweat and moisture throughout the day. Although your feet get washed each time you shower, they are rarely properly cleaned, moisturized, or scrubbed and exfoliated. Not everyone is confident and comfortable with feet, so it is an excellent idea to allow someone else to give your feet the attention and care they need!

Level the Surface of Your Feet

A lot of people do not know that foot soaks can help level out the surface of your soles from the revitalizing salts, resulting in you being able to distribute your weight more evenly. Weight distribution is important for a number of reasons. First off, uneven weight distribution can cause poor posture. According to Better Health, poor posture can lead to complications such as back pain, spinal dysfunction, rounded shoulders, and bad joints.

Uneven weight distribution could be the cause of many people’s hip pain, knee pain, and back and neck pain. This uneven weight distribution can cause pain in just doing the simplest of the tasks such as walking. Having your feet leveled by a foot soak will increase your chances of being in balance and being in overall better health. Leveling the surface of your feet should help with any possible issues or pain you have had.

Increase Blood Circulation

Massages to the feet and calves can be implemented into your foot soak at Wake Spa as an add-on coming in 20 or 40-minute increments. While this may feel like a luxury and state of relaxation, they actually offer many positive benefits to the feet. The massage has the ability to increase blood circulation throughout the feet. The increase in blood flow has the potential to relieve some pain, as well as help prevent further pain.

This type of pain could be related to arthritis or joint pain in the feet. The massage ad-on can help improve this by improving flexibility in the feet, around the ankle joints, and calves. A gentle massage helps stretch anything that is tight and helps relax those muscles. Blood circulation is so important to supply the body with enough oxygen and nutrients required to operate successfully. While a massage has health benefits such as an increase blood circulation, it is also a state of relaxation!

Foot Soaks at Home

While having a foot soak done by a professional in a sanctuary is ideal and relaxing, some people may not have time in their day to consistently go. A foot soak is able to be done at home with a few simple steps. Fill up your bathtub or a tub big enough to sit your feet in comfortably with some warm water, high enough to cover the ankles. Add about half a cup of Epsom salt and if you are an owner of any essential oils, you can add in a few drops of those as well. Soak your feet for 30-60 minutes. When done, dry them off thoroughly and end with a moisturizing lotion for the feet and calves. Foot soaking even at home will help reduce inflammation of the feet and give them the moisture they need.
