This month we are continuing our Portrait of a Foot Soaker series and are honored to talk to Zhenya Lazarchuk of Salon Zhenya in Asheville.
Wake Spa: Tell us a little about you?
Zhenya: Howdy! My name is Zhenya, but most often I am called Z. My parents moved to America when I was two years old, so I say I have Ukrainian blood but American spirit. I’ve lived in Asheville since 2000, and I call it home. I established a hair salon in 2018 in the west Asheville area.
W: As a fellow business in the service industry, what are some of your ideas about customer service and what it means to you?
Z: Customer service to me is helping the individual become present and during their time with you, they forget all the things they need to do. They feel like they can take a breath, enjoy themselves and walk out confident. They feel heard and taken care of.
W: What is one of the best things about having a business in Asheville?
Z: The best thing about having a business in Asheville is the community’s love and support. Asheville values and cherishes local businesses that add to what makes Asheville special.
W: What are your favorite ways to unwind when you are not at work?
Z: My favorite way to unwind is with self-care. I love getting pampered with foot soaks and massages from Wake, enjoying delicious meals with loved ones, a massage or facial, taking a bath or walking through town with my fur babies.
W: What is one at home pampering treatment that you could share with us? And why do you love it?
Z: My at home pampering is soaking in my tub. Sometimes I’ll listen to meditation music or a good podcast or catch up on social media. I also love a good mid-day nap if the opportunity presents itself.
W: Tell us a little about Salon Zhenya and the services offered there?
Z: Salon Zhenya focuses on making you feel confident beyond our chair. We provide hair services from coloring, blonding, air touch highlight, smoothing treatments, perms and special event hair styling and makeup! I can’t decide which is the best compliment we hear, “My hair grew out so well these past months, I debated if I needed to come in.” or “I received a compliment on my hair right before coming in for my service.” It’s more than just hair. It’s about how you feel leaving the salon.
W: What is one of your favorite Wake Foot Sanctuary services? And do you have any tips for having the best visit?
Z: Oh man! This is a tough question. Do I have to choose one?! I’ve tried so many and walked out pleased after my service. If I can only choose one, my favorite Wake Foot Sanctuary service would have to be the jet setter because I love getting pampered with massage services. It helps me escape my never ending to do list and be present.
