As winter is slowly making it’s exit, many of us are beginning to pull out our summer clothes, including sandals. When we are dehydrated or exposed to dry conditions, as we are during winter, our skin dries out. Often we see signs of this on our feet and we might experience dry or cracked heels. For most people this is a nuisance and a cosmetic problem, but it can also be painful.
The good news is that there are things you can do and available remedies for your dry feet that will make them ready for Summer. Hydration is probably the number one easiest thing you can do to begin this self care process. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. This will not only help with overall health, but it will also minimize any foot swelling caused by the heat of summer.
Treat your feet. If you stand for prolonged periods of time, are overweight, or do lots of walking or running, you might want to treat yourself to a professional massage every few weeks. It is also a great stress reliever!
Finally, a good moisturizer will help with any dryness, feel good, and is easy to do. If you aren’t sure how to begin your summer foot revitalization, Wake has a menu of moisturizing and hydrating soaks, a foot and lower leg massage option, and wonderful moisturizers including our newest edition: Beach Feet all natural healing foot balm.
Get your feet in tip top summer shape and ready for those sandals!
