We have been open for a little over one year, and we still learn something new about each other every day. Even though we all have busy schedules, it is important to take the time to get to know those individuals you work alongside. You might be amazed at what you learn! Here are the top five things you might not know about the staff at Wake:
1- We are a talented and creative bunch!
Among us we have singers, songwriters, an amazing cellist, a classically trained guitarist, a musician who can play any instrument by ear, drummers, visual artists, writers, performers, an amazing clothing and handbag designer and creator, innovators and entrepreneurs. And this is only what we have discovered so far!
2- We are a healthy and active bunch!
The staff at Wake is composed of vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, meat eating, organic and grass fed individuals who love to do yoga, run, swim, walk, hike, bike, go to the gym, windsurf, and more!
3- We have tattoos!
Apparently we have quite a few tattoos! We have a total of 11 staff at Wake, at least 35 tattoos among us, and possibly 5 of the 11 might not have any tattoos at all! Don’t judge a “book” by it’s cover though. The “ink” hasn’t affected how we “think”! See number 4 below 🙂
4- We are pretty smart and surprisingly (or not) well read!
All of the massage therapists at Wake are licensed in their craft. Many have gone to college and received bachelor’s degrees. There is at least one Master’s degree in the bunch. We have read fictional works by Emily Bronte, Ayn Rand, Shakespeare, Hemmingway, Vonnegut, Proust, Tolkien, Nietzsche, Dickens, Camus, Faulkner, Nabokov, Kerouac, Coelho, Thoreau, and Flaubert just to name a few. We have also read the works of non-fiction writers like Norman Vincent Peale, Wayne Dyer, Osho, Dalai Lama, Anne Frank, Ram Dass, Thich Nhat Hanh, Kelsang Gyatsu, Chogyam Trungpa, Pema Chodron, Dale Carnegie, Malcolm Gladwell, and the list goes on and on!
5- We have traveled the globe!
Excluding any travel within the United States, the staff at Wake has traveled to France, Poland, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, Jamaica, Guadeloupe, Mexico, USVI, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, BYI, Canada, Thailand, Costa Rica, Spain, Haiti, Guatemala, and these places were traveled by only TWO of our 11 staff members! We are also multi-lingual at Wake and can converse in several languages among us.
Surprised? Even WE are surprised by our awesomeness! ;))
